ASTRAL

Astral footwear has a special relationship with water. Every ingredient, from the adhesive to the laces, is critically evaluated for its ability to endure constant soaking, shed / drain water, dry quickly, not accumulate funk and grip on wet surfaces.

We love getting wet. But staying wet is another matter. If you walk through pouring rain or ford a river, your feet and shoes will get wet. Instead of trying to tiptoe through ankle-deep streams, we design footwear built to be submerged and then dry quicker than you ever imagined.

Part of a shoe’s ability to dry quickly has to do with how well it can shed water out and away from your foot. A combination of drain holes, port flushes and materials like mesh and microscreens allow water and air to flow in and out, but prevent dirt and sand from entering.

Turns out that even the cleanest of water begins to smell when it combines with textiles and body odor. We use naturally antimicrobial materials like closed-cell EVA foam, which sheds water and prevents the accumulation of funky odors, without the use of toxic chemical treatments.

A slip on wet surfaces in the wilderness can have dire consequences. That’s why all Astral footwear features our proprietary, super sticky, G Rubber™ outsoles. Designed to grip exceptionally well, especially when wet.
